- Changing the Letter2, Memo2, and Viewgraph2 templates
- OYou can change the company name and address on page 1 of the Letter2 and Memo2
- Ytemplates, and on each page of the Viewgraph2 templates. You can also delete the company V
- name and address entirely.
- (To change the company name and address:
- UGo to the master page named First in the Letter2 or Memo2 template, or to the master M
- .page named Right in the Viewgraph2 templates.
- VSelect the company name (but not the spaces on either side) and type your own company
- @name. We recommend that you type the name in uppercase letters.
- XSelect all three lines of the address (but not the square bullet above the address) and
- 9type your own address (preferably in uppercase letters).
- ZTo delete the company name and address entirely, select the text column (Hold down Option
- (and click the column) and press Delete.
- Using templates
- SA template is a preformatted document you use to create other documents. There are
- Ntemplates for reports, letters, memos, outlines, viewgraphs, and newsletters.
- XWhen you choose the New command, the scroll list in the dialog box has several folders. n
- QThe BasicTemplates folder has templates you can use as is. Other folders contain o
- ?templates you may want to change and store in another folder.

- >To change the masthead or company name and address on page 1:

- VThe newsletter template has four master pages: First, Left, Right, and Last. Use the
- PColumn Layout command to apply the appropriate column layout to the body pages.

- [so an article on page 1 continues on page 4, or to insert graphics in the newsletter), see

- Changing the report and book templates
- WThe BasicReport template is a single-sided document; all other report and book chapter x
- 'templates are double-sided documents.
- LUse the Document command on the Format menu to change these documents from
- ,single-sided to double-sided or vice versa.
- UFrameMaker updates the running headers and footers that appear on each page of your t
- Yreports and book chapters. To change the contents of the headers and footers, go to the l
- Tappropriate master page (First, Left, or Right), and edit the headers and footers.

- VBecause templates are FrameMaker documents, you can easily create your own templates.
- ZYou can also set up your templates so they appear in the same directory as the FrameMaker
- templates.
- VTo create a template, set up a document the way you want your template to appear. You
- Vcan specify page layouts, headers and footers, paragraph and character formats, cross-
- Lreference formats, and more. Then save the document in a convenient folder.
- bTo use the template, choose New from the File menu. For more information, click
- QTo put templates in the same folder as the FrameMaker templates, use the Save As
- command to save them there.

- Creating a document from a template
- &To create a document from a template:
- RChoose New from the File menu, select the template you want to use, and click OK.
- KAn untitled document window appears. The document contains sample text and
- Pgraphics showing the structure of the document, the suggested capitalization of
- Uheadings, and the placement of graphics. You can print the sample document and label
- ?its elements to use as an aid when you work with the document.
- You can either:
- Type over the current text, or
- SPut the insertion point at the top of the text column on page 1, choose Select All
- .in Flow from the Edit menu, and press Delete.
- MThe document is empty in the second method. The format and tag for the first
- Uparagraph are set correctly, so you can begin to type the contents of your document.
